Competition for Excellence in Further Education Announced
Strong competition between further education colleges is expected again this year as the categories for the ColegauCymru / CollegesWales Awards 2012 open to applications.
The annual awards aim to identify and celebrate excellence in the further education (FE) sector in Wales. They offer an opportunity to demonstrate excellence and best practice across a wide range of areas and form part of ColegauCymru / CollegesWales’ drive to raise standards through self regulation.
The awards for further education colleges and institutions are:
- Teaching and Learning
- Investing in Staff Development
- Higher Education in Further Education
- Governance
- Promoting Inclusive Learning Quality Partnerships
In addition, two awards will recognise outstanding teaching and learning by individuals:
- Teacher of the Year
- Learner of the Year
Chief Executive of ColegauCymru / CollegesWales, John Graystone, said: “The awards recognise outstanding achievement, highlight the breadth of provision in further education and celebrate collaboration between institutions and other organisations.
“ColegauCymru is delighted to have received sponsorship for the awards from a number of influential bodies. They all recognise the keen competition that exists for the awards, and see the awards as a stimulus for improving quality across the whole of the sector. I am very grateful to these sponsors for their support.”
The awarding ceremony coincides with the ColegauCymru / CollegesWales’ Annual Conference dinner on 31 May 2012 in Llandudno.
