Mike Walters, a lecturer in carpentry at Coleg Sir Gâr has secured the position of workshop manager at the largest international skills competition being hosted by the UK this year, in London. more>>>

Inspirational Sue wins national recognition

Gower College Swansea lecturer Sue Poole has won a national Enterprise Education award for her work in inspiring entrepreneurial spirit in young people. She was honoured at the recent National Enterprise Educator Awards ceremony at Coventry Cathedral, an event organised by Enterprise Educators UK (EEUK) and the National Council for Entrepreneurship in Education (NCEE). more>>>

Student design is right on target

A student’s logo design has been chosen to front a campaign aimed at raising aspirations of 14-19 year olds and supporting them towards a brighter future. Former Coleg Gwent A level student Rhys Lowry outshone competition from professional graphic designers and other students with his winning design.  The logo will be used for the Pre-VENT14-19 scheme. more>>>

Coleg Gwent tutor Emma Hurley was selected from netball coaches from schools and colleges across Wales to win the accolade Welsh Netball’s Teacher of the Year at Welsh Netball’s annual awards ceremony at Cardiff City Stadium.  more >>>

Coleg Llandrillo Beauty Therapy student Zoe Williams has won first prize in the 2011 Nelson Thornes Hair and Beauty Competition for her innovative make-up techniques, beating hundreds of students from throughout the UK.
