WorldSkills Legacy for Wales

World Stage for World Class Skills and Ideas Four boatbuilding students from Pembrokeshire College’s MITEC school of Boatbuilding and Marine Engineering showcased their skills at WorldSkills last week in order to share their skills with a wide audience and to give youngsters the chance to have a taste of careers they may not have previously considered. Winning a Silver medal for Pembrokeshire College were apprentices who competed in the UK Skills environmental science competition organised by Prospect, the union for professional scientists, engineers and managers. more>>>

Students Showcase Talents on World Stage

Students from Coleg Morgannwg designed the costumes and assisted with the backstage wardrobe function at the WorldSkills Opening Ceremony the O2 arena. more>>>

Coleg Gwent shines on global stage

Coleg Gwent’s Crosskeys Campus musical theatre students drew large crowds at the WorldSkills 2011 performance stage with their dazzling 20-minute showcase of hit musical numbers from shows including We Will Rock You, Moulin Rouge, Boogie Nights, Shrek and Sweet Charity. more>>>

Northop College top performance at WorldSkills London 2011

The Floristry Department at Northop College, part of the Deeside College Group of Colleges, performed a spectacular catwalk show for WorldSkills London 2011 – the world’s largest international skills competition. more>>>

Super Skills with NPTC

Hundreds of Neath Port Talbot College (NPTC) students from a range of disciplines including Building Services, Engineering, Construction, Sport and Catering visited WorldSkills London 2011 to see first hand the skills of the world’s most talented vocational competitors. Electronics students from the college had also been invited to demonstrate their expertise in robotics at WorldSkills in partnership with Festo: an international manufacturer of pneumatics.
In addition, hundreds of current and potential students took part in a variety of "Have a Go" activities in the run-up to WorldSkills, including a careers event in Margam Park with partner schools and a skills swap for students. more>>>

'Have a go' at Parc y Scarlets

In partnership with the Scarlets, Coleg Sir Gâr has been offering ‘have a go’ taster sessions for the public, including woodturning, tiling, bird-box and jewellery box making, face painting, fitness challenges, and putting kids' heads onto Scarlets players bodies using photo software. more>>>

	New Corporation Chair for Coleg Gwent Coleg Gwent has appointed a new Chair to their Corporation – Angela Lloyd.  The appointment follows the retirement of Dr Keith Denison who served on the governing body since 2001, including five years as Chair. more>>>

College Launches Courses in Sustainability and Heritage

Coleg Powys, in collaboration with Tŷ Mawr, recently launched its new courses in sustainability and heritage construction skills at Tŷ Mawr Farm. more>>>

Learning Zone reaches new heights

The Blaenau Gwent Learning Zone took one step closer to completion on Thursday when it celebrated a ‘topping out’ ceremony to mark reaching the highest point in the new campus, which is part of one of Europe’s largest regeneration projects. more>>>

New Hair and Beauty Salons at Coleg Powys

New Hair & Therapy salons at Coleg Powys’ Brecon campus have been professionally designed to a high specification and equipped with state of the art facilities.  A total of four salons are now all open the public. more>>>

Minister opens Yale College Health Zone

Welsh Government Health Minister Lesley Griffiths opened the Health Zone at Yale College’s Learning Resource Centre – which will provide students with a wider range of health information to support courses and help them meet the pressures of their daily lives. more>>>

Yale College Deloitte Employability Awards 2011

Yale College congratulates level two travel and tourism learner Michael Roberts who has been nominated their Deloitte Employability Skills student of the year alongside Janet Owen, Health and Social Care lecturer who has been selected Tutor of the Year under the programme. They both go forward to the UK award ceremony to be held at Deloitte in the City of London. more>>>
