World Stage for World Class Skills and Ideas
Four boatbuilding students from Pembrokeshire College’s MITEC school of Boatbuilding and Marine Engineering showcased their skills at WorldSkills last week in order to share their skills with a wide audience and to give youngsters the chance to have a taste of careers they may not have previously considered.
Winning a Silver medal for Pembrokeshire College were apprentices who competed in the UK Skills environmental science competition organised by Prospect, the union for professional scientists, engineers and managers. more>>>

Coleg Gwent’s Crosskeys Campus musical theatre students drew large crowds at the WorldSkills 2011 performance stage with their dazzling 20-minute showcase of hit musical numbers from shows including We Will Rock You, Moulin Rouge, Boogie Nights, Shrek and Sweet Charity. more>>>

The Floristry Department at Northop College, part of the Deeside College Group of Colleges, performed a spectacular catwalk show for WorldSkills London 2011 – the world’s largest international skills competition. more>>>
Super Skills with NPTC
Hundreds of Neath Port Talbot College (NPTC) students from a range of disciplines including Building Services, Engineering, Construction, Sport and Catering visited WorldSkills London 2011 to see first hand the skills of the world’s most talented vocational competitors. Electronics students from the college had also been invited to demonstrate their expertise in robotics at WorldSkills in partnership with Festo: an international manufacturer of pneumatics.
In addition, hundreds of current and potential students took part in a variety of "Have a Go" activities in the run-up to WorldSkills, including a careers event in Margam Park with partner schools and a skills swap for students. more>>>
'Have a go' at Parc y Scarlets
In partnership with the Scarlets, Coleg Sir Gâr has been offering ‘have a go’ taster sessions for the public, including woodturning, tiling, bird-box and jewellery box making, face painting, fitness challenges, and putting kids' heads onto Scarlets players bodies using photo software. more>>>
